Stepworks provides specialized vocational services to individuals who are recovering from mental illness and seeking to return to the workforce. Founded in 1983, Stepworks has helped nearly 2,500 mentally ill clients experience the financial, social, and personal benefits of employment. Success at meaningful employment provides income, a sense of productivity and independence, and increases feelings of self-respect and hopefulness.

Stepworks is a Community Rehabilitation Program (CRP) and vendor with the Washington State Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), and the King County Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD).

Stepworks offers a range of vocational options and supports included agency-operated businesses, supported employment positions, and individual placement services. Vocational services are provided in conjunction with referring agencies, case managers, residential providers, and other members of a client's treatment team. Stepworks creates work opportunities for clients by maintaining a strong relationship with the business community and by working with employers to train and support clients as they integrate into the workforce.
