Holiday Helpers campaign makes the Holiday brighter for CPC clients

Every year Community Psychiatric Clinic conducts its Holiday Helpers campaign to purchase needed but inexpensive items as gifts for clients, such as toiletries, warm clothing, food certificates and bedding, which will help our clients focus on their goal of recovery. These items are wrapped and distributed to the most needy clients and families enrolled in services at CPC.

Thanks to the generosity of board and community members, this year's Holiday Helpers program was the most successful ever!

New this year was support from Perkins Coie LLP. Instead of giving their employees holiday gifts, an employee committee donates $2,000 to eight organizations, and departments within Perkins Coie collect items from employees. We received many toiletries and assorted gift items, plus an additional monetary support from their employees. This year the employee committee felt they needed to support a mental health organization and they found out about us on the United Way of King County’s web site.

More than 1,000 gifts were wrapped in two sessions, during the annual December board meeting/supper on December 8th and the following Saturday, the 13th, with 13 community volunteers, some who returned to wrap gifts for a third consecutive year. Northwest Prescriptions donated pizza and soda pop as lunch for the volunteers.

The majority of gifts, including gift certificates to McDonalds, Safeway and RiteAid, were divided up by CPC Program Managers on December 16th, based on need. Most of the children's items went to Child & Family Services. Our three residential treatment facilities: El Rey, Cascade Hall and Keystone, also received generous independent contributions from family members to purchase gifts for residents.

In addition, the Southcenter Target Store donated three beautifully decorated artificial trees that can be used by CPC programs next year.

We appreciate the generous support we’ve received this year. Thank you!
