Bridgeway Recovery Program Receives Exemplary Service Award
o
n October 3, 2001, CPC’s Bridgeway Recovery Program was honored with a 2001 King County Mental Health, Chemical Abuse and Dependency Services Division Exemplary Service Award in the category of Systems Integration.

Over the past several years, since CPC became state-licensed to provide outpatient chemical dependency treatment, CPC has recognized the importance of integrating chemical dependency services with mental health services for individuals with co-occurring disorders of mental illness and substance abuse, and has incorporated this value into CPC’s core service philosophy and mission.

Approximately 80% of clients receiving services at the Bridgeway Recovery Program, have co-occurring disorders, which contribute to additional challenges and increased risk of homelessness, incarceration, and hospitalization or involuntary detox. The provision of an integrated treatment/recovery model truly requires highly collaborative relationships with numerous support systems to ensure integrated care for this population. Bridgeway Recovery Program staff work closely with Harborview Medical Center, the Dutch Shisler Sobering Support Center, the Recovery Centers of King County, the involuntary treatment system for alcoholism/ drug addiction, County Designated Mental Health Professionals, primary care services, residential treatment providers, housing entities, courts, jails, hospitals, and Health Care for the Homeless to coordinate care for clients with multiple service needs. This innovative and collaborative approach to break down the barriers facing chemically dependent, mentally ill clients who have typically been treated in two separate arenas, can have profound effects on their lives. As one client expressed in her nomination letter to King County, “In time I was able to accept that I would not be able to achieve mental health, stability, and quality of life without cessation of my alcohol and drug use...I am so grateful for this life saving and life changing program....this is the longest period of sobriety since the age of sixteen...I offer my highest praise and gratitude for this wonderful program and for the counselors whose knowledge of treatment techniques and mental health disorders, have provided me with a safe arena in which to work on myself.”

CPC’s Bridgeway Recovery Program serves over 500 clients annually, and has become one of the largest providers of Title XIV chemical dependency treatment services in King County.
