Albion Place opens to new residentsIn January 2005, CPC opened Albion Place, its newest permanent housing facility for mentally ill adults. Albion Place is a homelike structure, with 12 independent units, common areas, and community living spaces. Albion Place provides a supportive housing environment with access to mental health and chemical dependency treatment and employment. Support services are provided by CPC and include home visits, on-site skills training, and provision of recreational and socialization opportunities for residents. This project is unique in that it provides an opportunity for mentally ill individuals who could not otherwise live independently, to have the structure and support of a larger established community and live in an independent, supportive setting. These independent living apartments were designed by ARC Architects in Seattle, and were built by Taylor Construction, with special funding from the Washington State Housing Trust Fund, the Washington Mutual Foundation and the Nesholm Family Foundation. Each unit is a studio apartment with a microwave and small refrigerator, plus an attached bathroom; the building also has a common kitchen and living area, and two TV lounges. Like all CPC housing, the residents of Albion Place are low income. Albion Place is the final phase of the Keystone Complex, which includes 24-hour residential care at our Keystone facility, semi-independent living and treatment at our Coach House facility, and completely independent living at Albion Place.
