Cedar House Youth Transitional Housing Facility
Cedar House provides housing and services for eight previously homeless mentally ill young adults, ages 18-24. The program is designed to meet the needs of young adults who have become homeless for a variety of reasons and lack the skills necessary to transition to adulthood independently. It provides a safe and supportive environment to learn living skills that facilitate mental health stability, a clean and sober lifestyle, and self-sufficiency in educational and work related goals.
Services provided at Cedar House include:
- Case management and advocacy
- Crisis intervention services
- Psychiatric evaluation
- Medication assessment and management
- Education on mental health, drugs and alcohol, including the conflicting effects of prescribed medications and illicit use of drugs/alcohol
- Therapeutic levels of behavioral health care , including mental health and chemical dependency screening and treatment
- Prevocational and vocational services
- Activities of daily living training
- Family support services
- Social skills and other recovery support groups designed specifically for young adults
- Recreation activities
