CPC's CEO re-elected to National Council Board

CPC’s CEO, Shirley Havenga, was recently re-elected to a three-year term on the National Council Board of Directors, representing providers in Region X (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska).

“It is an honor to be re-elected to the National Council Board by my peers in Region X,” said Ms. Havenga. “I look forward to continuing to develop legislative action on the national level on behalf of community behavioral healthcare providers.”

The National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare is a not-for-profit association of 1,300 behavioral healthcare organizations that provide treatment and rehabilitation for mental illnesses and addiction disorders to nearly six million adults, children and families in communities across the country. Board members lead the organization in promoting recovery from mental illness and addictions through public policy advocacy, leadership and workforce development, and organizational and practice improvement.

Ms. Havenga has dedicated her more-than-35-year career to working in public mental health systems to improve service access and service delivery for our most vulnerable citizens who suffer from mental illness and chemical dependency.  She joined the team at Community Psychiatric Clinic in 1995 and prior, served as Executive Director of Mental Health North.  She has a Master’s in Public Administration from Seattle University, and a Master’s in Counseling.

Ms. Havenga has served on many state and local planning groups providing leadership and advocacy on behalf of consumers.  In addition to her duties as CEO and her role on the National Council board, she serves on the Board of Directors of the Washington Community Mental Health Council and the Washington Coalition for Insurance Parity, and as co-chair of the King County Mental Health and Drug Dependency Oversight Committee.
